GreenStart Project Objectives

The aim of the Green Start programme was to increase the Energy performance and attain ISO 50001 certification for the company

Key Challenges

The key challenge was the roll out of training within all employees, due to very busy periods. We overcame the challenge by delivering training in small groups so our production was only slightly interrupted.

Outcomes

The outcomes of the project were the following:

  • The company has expended the scope and implemented ISO 50001 Energy Management System on the Ballinrobe site.
  • Established a monitoring process for all SEU’s including Wood chips.
  • As a result of further analysis, an Energy Review document was developed that contains comprehensive information on the energy usage of all three sites and on all types of energy usage. By doing this, CJ Sheeran identified further opportunities for improvement, was able to prioritise its focus on the most Significant Energy Users.
  • Completed an internal audit on the Management System and on operation controls on the Ballinrobe site.
  • An energy awareness training has been delivered to all employees on the principles of energy management and how their behaviour can contribute to save energy at the work place. The training also included energy saving tips at home and all home improvement Grants that are currently available. CJ Sheeran believe if they help employees save energy and cost at home, they will help the company to do the same.
  • Went through the ISO 50001 accreditation process and achieved certification for all three sites.
  • An Energy Team was established, which has a major role in maintaining and continuously improving the Energy Management System. The team meets on regular basis.
