“Take a green step” website is now online

Do you work in the tourism sector? Are you looking for ways to make your hotel or restaurant more eco-friendly?  Then check out this new website which is full of practical information to help you achieve your goals.

Take A Green Step is brought to you by the European Commission’s Directorate General for the Environment, supported by the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre.

The information presented here is based on the Best Environmental Management Practices (BEMPs) for the Tourism sector developed in the framework of the EU Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS). You can find these best practices in the “Best Practices” tab.

Best Environmental Management Practices are developed by the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission for a range of priority sectors, of which Tourism is only one! Head to the JRC website to find out more about about all the other sectors for which the European Commission is identifying best practices and developing Sectoral Reference Documents.

If you would like to contact us about EMAS and this initiative, we would be happy to help. The EMAS helpdesk will address your questions and more information on how to reach us can be found here.
