The Lean Six Sigma Black Belt training Course is for business leaders who are drivers of change within an organisation, responsible for resolving complex process problems or have responsibility for leading continuous improvements programmes.

Lean Six Sigma Black Belt

The aim of the programme is to produce graduates who possess advanced knowledge of theory and practice of Lean Six Sigma to enable them to establish and/or take leadership roles in process improvement efforts in manufacturing or data intensive service organisations.

Our Lean Six Sigma Black Belt consists of 20 days face to face sessions over a six month period. Face to face sessions are delivered over 6 training sessions (3 or 4 days in duration), this is followed a day of project presentations once projects are complete (18 months after the start date of the programme).  The unique feature of our Black Belt programme is that certification is only achieved on completion of a major project, documenting application of the learning tools and evidence of the savings generated.

Lean Six Sigma Black Belt

A Black Belt is a part-time Six Sigma programme member who will be able to lead a cross functional project team using a range of Six Sigma project management, problem solving and statistical analysis tools. Each training delegate must identify a strategic and comprehensive project which, with the guidance of Lean Sigma Systems, will be successfully completed. The project will deliver real improvement and substantial savings for the delegate’s organisation. Six Sigma Black Belt projects form the majority of projects in an organisation running a Six Sigma programme. They are medium-duration (12 - 16 weeks) quick-return initiatives that result in customer satisfaction and cost savings. The Black Belt programme is a certified programme for which participants will have to complete a project, show predetermined and quantified financial and business benefits, and pass a written multiple choice examination.

Programme Requirements

The participants attend the training with pre-determined projects selected in conjunction with BPI Services that they will work on during the training and see out to a close. The participants will take projects from their own departments to work on as real time projects which will actively drive process improvement within their own organisation.

Programme Objectives

At the end of this programme participants will be able to:

  • Use a formal project management method and problem solving tools to improve or eliminate process problems.
  • Organise and drive process improvement projects which will target savings worth in the region of €30k per year.
  • Become the focal point in driving project teams and will drive a culture of Continuous Improvement.
  • Lead a cross-functional team through to successful project completion.
  • Quantify business and financial benefits for the organisation and the customer.
  • Certify as a Six Sigma Green Belt

Who Should Attend
Healthcare professionals who have completed the Fundamentals of Lean (White Belt) with the Mater Lean Academy or another provider. The applicant will register as a UCD student.

This Programme takes place for five days consisting of classroom based training, supplemented with practical exercises and relevant case studies. Upon successful completion of an in-company project, learners will be accredited with a certification from LBSPartners. There is no additional cost for the LBSPartners certification. The Lean Six Sigma Green Belt course covers relevant case studies, examples and exercises which are tailored to participants’ areas of focus.
