I am driven and motivated by efficiency, focussed on how can I help people and their businesses become more efficient and effective? How can we simplify things so that there is more clarity about whats happening in the business?
This drive results from the fact that I am far from the typical accountant. Clients often ask, What type of accountant are you? I see accounting information as being just one part of the data that helps the manger to understand what is going on in the business and why that is happening. I then apply Lean approaches to design and implement improvements.
Part of the reason for my approach is that my business journey began with a degree in Civil Engineering. I followed this by training as a Chartered Accountant with PWC in Dublin, after which time I worked in the manufacturing industry for over 13 years.
My business experience includes:
• Financial Management in large manufacturing plants
• Leader of TQM-Lean improvement teams
• Selection and implementation of sophisticated ERP Systems
• Delivering Training in Lean-TQM
• Assisting start-ups develop and implement Strategy
One area that is of great interest to me is understanding why some change initiatives succeed where others don’t. In my experience working on the human side of change initiatives can significantly improve the probability of success.
