SUMMARY:FOCUS ON LEAN: The Lean Leader – Building Trust\, Culture and Improvement
DESCRIPTION:In collaboration with the Midlands Lean Network and Jigsaw Better Business\, join us for a practical two-hour workshop exploring the behaviours that make Lean leadership effective in the real world. \nEvent Format: \n\nNetworking Lunch from 1pm\nStart Time 2pm – 4pm\nCoffee and Networking 4pm – 5pm\n\nThis session introduces The Lean Leader\, Jigsaw’s award-winning Lean leadership model\, developed to help leaders understand how trust\, culture\, behaviour\, and psychological safety directly influence operational excellence and continuous improvement. The model is practical\, tangible\, and easy to use for people working at the Gemba\, while also being peer reviewed\, academically published\, and grounded in real business application. \nLean improvement does not succeed through tools alone. It is shaped by the behaviours leaders demonstrate every day\, the environment they create for their teams\, and their ability to build a culture where people feel safe to contribute\, learn\, challenge\, and improve. This workshop gives participants an introduction to the key behaviours of a Lean leader\, the impact those behaviours have on teams\, and how leaders can intentionally develop the skills needed to lead improvement well. \nParticipants will be introduced to the Jigsaw Lean Leadership and Lean Culture Benchmark\, helping them understand the core dimensions of Lean leadership and how these can be observed\, measured\, and strengthened over time. The workshop will also explore how Lean leadership connects to psychological safety\, team engagement\, and a stronger culture of accountability and learning. \nAs part of the session\, attendees will have the opportunity to reflect on their own leadership practice and complete a leadership self-assessment based on the Jigsaw benchmark. This will help them identify strengths\, highlight development areas\, and see how coaching and personal development can build the leadership capability needed to support operational excellence. \nThroughout the workshop\, participants will be given practical examples of behaviours and actions that can be used immediately in their own role. The focus is on making Lean leadership tangible\, measurable\, learnable\, and easy to apply\, especially for leaders working close to the day-to-day reality of teams\, performance\, and improvement. \nREGISTER TO ATTEND \nWhat participants will gain \n\nan introduction to Jigsaw’s award-winning Lean leadership model\ninsight into the key behaviours that make a Lean leader\na better understanding of the relationship between leadership\, culture\, and improvement\npractical guidance on creating a psychologically safe team environment\na self-assessment against the Jigsaw Lean Culture Benchmark\nclear\, practical actions that can be applied immediately in the workplace\n\nWho should attend \nThis workshop is ideal for: \n\nbusiness owners\nmanagers and supervisors\nteam leaders\noperational excellence leads\ncontinuous improvement practitioners\nanyone responsible for leading people\, change\, or improvement activity\n\nAbout Stuart Nelson \nStuart Nelson is Co-Founder of Jigsaw Better Business\, Senior Lean Coach\, and a specialist in operational excellence\, Lean culture\, and business transformation. Gemba walks are a series of structured\, on-site interviews with representative process participants with the goal of gaining a comprehensive understanding of the process. Interviews focus on detail such as process time\, wait time\, defect rates\, root causes and other information that can lead to targeted improvements. \nIn this session\, we will give an overview of how to approach the Gemba Walk and hear from Master Lean Practitioners\, Miriam Keogh of Dawn\, Liam Farrell of Boliden (Tara Mines) and Billy Creavin of Alkermes on their practical experience of going to the Gemba\, what the pitfalls are and how to avoid them. \n[vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][divider line_type=”No Line”][vc_custom_heading text=”About the Midlands Lean Network” google_fonts=”font_family:Dosis%3A200%2C300%2Cregular%2C500%2C600%2C700%2C800|font_style:400%20regular%3A400%3Anormal”][divider line_type=”Small Line” line_thickness=”3″ divider_color=”accent-color”][/vc_column][/vc_row] \n[vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text] The Midlands Lean Network strives to provide a regional forum and community for Lean & Operation Excellence best practices in the midlands.
