Energy Efficiency is about producing the same or better results with less energy. Making our buildings more energy efficient has multiple benefits, ranging from making them nicer environments, to lowering energy bills.  This can be achieved by improving a building with better insulation, upgraded heating or LED lighting and there are a range of supports available.

For businesses, improved energy efficiency also contributes to improved competitiveness as well as increasingly important green credentials. The Department of Communications, Climate Action and Environment (DCCAE) are now looking to engage with businesses of all sizes to:

– outline some of the benefits energy efficiency delivers for businesses and the supports currently available to improve energy efficiency

– provide an opportunity for businesses to have their voices heard on how they could be better supported to improve their energy efficiency.

This stakeholder consultation is taking the form of an online survey. The survey should take no more than 15 minutes to complete and is open until 25 October 2017.

The survey should take 10 to 15 minutes to complete depending on your answers.  Participating in this survey will provide you with information that should be advantageous to your business including on supports and tax advantages available.  There will be some questions about your current awareness about the benefits of energy efficiency and about the supports currently on offer, and what you consider to be impediments to improving energy efficiency and on the types of support that you feel might be most useful or helpful to you to improve energy efficiency.

The responses from individual businesses/respondents will remain confidential in any published reports and only aggregated statistics or anonymised comments will be published.  The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) would like to be able to contact businesses who express an interest in supports they offer and DCCAE would like to facilitate this.  An option is provided at the end of the survey to opt out and where a respondent selects that option their contact details would not be shared with SEAI.

Improving energy efficiency can deliver multiple benefits for your business:- reduce your energy spend and help improve competitiveness.  Using less energy results in reduced emissions improving the green credentials of your business and can also help to improve business resilience and safeguard you against energy price volatility and, by reducing the amount spent on energy imports, keep more money in Ireland’s economy.
